I almost always have three or four ongoing lists attached to my clipboard, but when I have a birthday coming up in my family, the number of lists tends to more than double. Here is a list of the lists that I use to help me plan a birthday.

1. A birthday to do list is a realistic recording of all of the details that go into planning a birthday for a loved one. Important things to include might be shopping for gifts and supplies, deciding whether to make or buy a cake, deciding how many people to invite, cleaning for the big day, making reservations, or even ordering something by a certain date to receive it in the mail on time.

2. A gift list is a necessity because often one or two gifts have been purchased ahead of time and placed in a secret hiding place. So an ongoing list is essential. There must be room on this page, however, to record the ideas you have for gifts along the way.

3. If you are planning a party for this birthday, then there are a few lists that are crucial to being ready. A guest list with addresses makes sending invitations and thank you notes a breeze. A timeline of the day of the party will help you stay on track. A planning list with possible games/entertainment options to help keep guests busy. A list of the dishes that will be served at the party with space for a grocery list of the ingredients of the food and drinks you'll need.

4. A calendar of the weeks leading up to the big day will help you set deadlines and goals so that you can accomplish everything involved in planning a lovely birthday for that special person in your life.

Child's Elvis Halloween Costume Wig

Thanksgiving is quickly approaching and it is time once again to start preparing for the fall season. Besides dreaming of succulent turkey and the trimmings, this means readying holiday dinnerware, organizing cookware, polishing silver, and searching for new and exciting recipes and great holiday trivia! Liven up your Thanksgiving holiday with Turkey Trivia #1 - Turkey Facts, and Turkey Trivia #2 - Cranberry Facts.

Turkey Trivia #1 - Turkey Facts

Did you know...
  • The first American Thanksgiving was celebrated in 1621 between the Pilgrims and the Native Americans who taught the Pilgrims how to survive off the environment.
  • There are many thoughts how the turkey got its name. One such theory was that Christopher Columbus thought the bird looked like a peacock and since the East Indian word for peacock was tuka, this birds name transitioned from tuka to turkey. Makes sense. And on the other hand, when a turkey is scared, instead of saying gobble, gobble, it makes a turk, turk, turk sound. No brainer here. Take your choice.
  • Wild turkeys occasionally spend the night up in a tree.
  • A female turkey is called a hen while the male is called a tom.
  • A hen does not say gobble, gobble. Instead, they say click, click. That must be some sound fest when both sexes are simultaneously striving for attention.
  • A mature turkey has approximately 3,500 feathers.
  • Wild turkeys can run 25 miles per hour and fly up to 55 miles per hour. However, commercially raised turkeys cannot run at all, or fly.
  • The heaviest turkey ever weighed toppled the scales at 86 pounds.
  • A turkey can have a heart attack if it becomes overly startled; turkeys living near an area where the sound barrier was broken dropped dead from the shock.
  • Turkeys have a fantastic sense of hearing but have no external ears. Hmm! Are the ear holes hiding somewhere under those 3,500 feathers? Only the turkey knows for sure but he is not telling.

Turkey Trivia #2 - Cranberry Facts

Did you know...

  • The Pilgrims called todays cranberry a craneberry because its blossoms looked like the head and bill of a Sandhill crane.
  • Cranberries were carried aboard American whaler and mariner sea crossings in an attempt to prevent scurvy.
  • Many people believe cranberries live on water alone, but fascinatingly enough, they are grown on vines in bogs originally created by glacial deposits. A fence is installed around the entire growing area of a bog, in an attempt to prevent the cranberries from drifting away. They are covered with a layer of sand which acts like a blanket. Cranberries can survive only in these stringent conditions.
  • If undamaged, a cranberry vine can survive more than 150 years.
  • If you drop a load of cranberries on a declining slope, the firmest and freshest berries can bounce as high as 4 inches while going downhill. Soft and bruised berries will not bounce, therefore separating themselves from the quality fruit.
  • Fruit nibblers beware! Raw cranberries are sour and bitter. Be sure to stir in some sort of sweetener; mixing in sugar or honey should help considerably.
  • As well as bouncing, cranberries can float using the same internal air pockets that help propel ripe cranberries off the ground.

Throughout every day of the year, many people in the United States celebrate unique, strange, and weird holidays. Any person can apply to their respective government or to the United Nations in order to have a day formalized as a particular celebration. Unless the day is racist, sexist or otherwise hateful, it is usually considered as a special celebration. This freedom has led to some pretty strange holidays. Some interesting events, daily observances or weekly observances can also be celebrated as weird holidays.

Some of the interesting holidays in January are Happy Mew Year for Cats Day, Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day, Thomas Crapper Day, Squirrel Appreciation Day, and Penguin Awareness Day.

Dump Your Significant Jerk Day, Weather Person's Day, Be Electrific Day, and Ferris Wheel Day are some weird observances of February.

In the month of March come Pig Day, Panic Day, Unique Names Day, National Children's Crafts Day, and Act Happy Day.

Weird holidays in April include Sorry Charlie Day, Blame Someone Else Day, Pecan Day, and Tweed Day.

Save the Rhino Day, Paranormal Day, and Kite Day are some of the weird holidays celebrated in the month of May.

Hug Your Cat Day, and Take Your Dog to Work Day come in June.

Weird holidays of July are I Forgot Day, Canada Day, and Country Music Day.

Sister's Day, Happiness Happens Day, and Professional Speakers Day are some August daily observances.

Labor Day and International Literacy Day are some in September.

Devil's Night, Internet Day, and Mother-in-Law Day come in October.

Among the weird holidays celebrated in November are All Hallows or All Saints Day, National Family Literacy Day, and Sadie Hawkins Day.

Coats for Kids Day, Special Education Day, and National Dice Day fall in December.

Bonza Bottler Day is a kind of fun holiday, which happens every month when a day and month coincide.

There are a fine number of websites or CDs providing a list of weird holidays and observances. These websites help to keep you informed about daily, weekly, monthly weird holidays and celebrations. The Kung Fu Panda kids Halloween Costume costumes are the perfect costume for that perky look. Pick this Costume this Halloween, and you will definitely be the talk of the party!!

Thanksgiving is an occasion everybody looks forward to. It is a special event when families reunite and friends get together for a meal representative of thankfulness for all the blessings that have come the whole year round. Comparatively, Thanksgiving does not tend to the same level of decorating as Halloween or Christmas, holidays for which decorating has become so much a part of the celebration, but there are still wonderful Thanksgiving decorations to make your home more festive. And some of my favorite decorations are Thanksgiving vintage collectibles.

Most Thanksgiving collectibles tend to revolve around the foods we eat during the season, whether used as images on paper items such as Thanksgiving postcards or decorating food serving items such as trays and dishes. Pumpkins, corn and of course, turkeys are on top of the list.

The popularity of these collectibles is prompted by historic reasons. Originally, Thanksgiving Day is an occasion to symbolize the thankfulness of early American settlers for a bountiful harvest season. Through the years, the occasion has evolved and has become more symbolic in nature. Now, people gather in Thanksgiving to express thankfulness for all the blessings and good tidings accumulated in the past year.

Because the celebration of Thanksgiving revolves around the traditional Thanksgiving dinner, items that symbolize that meal gathering have become the objects that symbolize the occasion. Among the popular collectibles are Thanksgiving mementos made of paper, fabric, and wax; such as cards, tablecloths, and candles. You would also notice that Thanksgiving collectibles are mostly display and dinner pieces, usually ceramic or porcelain. These are collectibles that serve a functional, as well as decorative purpose, especially items like dinner plates, bowls, casseroles, platters, gravy boats and salt and pepper shakers.

In the 1800s and throughout the 20th century, manufacturers have produced Thanksgiving decorations. Most of the vintage items are still very much functional today, though some collectors may prefer to keep them for display purposes only so they'll be protected from any mishaps. I would hate to spill gravy or wine all over a vintage tablecloth.

Some other popular vintage Thanksgiving collectibles available are soap and food molds. As usual, these items are usable and can be very helpful in making food presentations during the Thanksgiving meal more appropriate, lively and decorative. Vintage candy containers are also readily available online at sites like Ebay. There are many fun turkey-shaped candy containers manufactured during the first half of the 20th century that can add to the Thanksgiving atmosphere.

If you enjoy decorating your Thanksgiving table, be sure to check out some of the vintage Thanksgiving decorations available, including some very cute Turkey Candy Containers.

Everlast Boxer Child Costume

Includes bodysuit, robe, robe tie, and hands free boxing gloves. Available in child sizes Medium, Large, and X-Large.

Everyone loves to dress up. Whether it be for a party, a school production or indeed to celebrate a special date such a Halloween or Christmas.

Fancy dress parties really are alive and kicking in the UK and all across Europe. Adults just love to dress up as Bunny Rabbits, Gorillas, or indeed take the opportunity to be a cow boy or cow girl for the day. Fancy dress costumes can be hard to get hold of. Although you can find the odd retail shop dotted around, by far the best place to get hold of fancy dress costumes is an online store. Many people want to 'try before they buy', but product selection and design improvements have helped online retailers overcome this with 'one size' costumes which generally fit well between sizes ten and 14 for ladies.

Many party goers like to go dressed in complementary costumes, which really adds to the fun. An Indian man looks much more the part with his apache wife on his arm!

Festivals and holidays also provide a great opportunity to dress up. Bunny Rabbits abound at Easter, all manner of things abound at Halloween and course lets not forget dear old Santa.
School productions can be both fun and inspiring for adults and children alike. Many costumes now come well within a parent's budget. Take for instance this Child Goddess Costume selling online for well under ten pounds. Some school productions in particular prefer to make their own costumes since it adds to the original nature of the performance. One way of making a costume look really professional is too purchase a rubber mask. These masks come in all shapes and sizes these days and can be a handy addition to any costume or indeed used in isolation.

Halloween is not just for kids, it is a holiday that is fun for everyone. Just as many adults celebrate this holiday as children, and they enjoy it as much if not more. Choosing a costume is the biggest part of celebrating Halloween; however decorating for it allows you to use your imagination in ways that may not be appropriate any other time of year.

Adults that love this holiday go to great lengths to decorate their homes, offices and even their cars. Choosing the right decorations are critical. Many people who are environmentally conscience want to decorate their homes, however they do not want to purchase anything that can do harm.
Organic Halloween decorations are fast becoming the most chosen form of decoration by those who have 'gone green' because they are all natural, organic pieces that can be found in many different shapes and sizes.

These decorations can make all the difference when you are decorating your home or office Halloween party. Organic Halloween decoration are inexpensive, non-threatening to the atmosphere and just plain fun to decorate with. You can use them to decorate windows, walls, and doorways and all are 100% safe, this is a great way to decorate, especially if you have small children in your home.

Halloween is the second most celebrated holiday of the year. When the season arrives, Halloween shops open all over cities and towns across the country. They offer an assortment of decorations from humorous to very scary. When you have small children, you want them to enjoy the Halloween season, not be traumatized by it.

Let's face it, when you purchase anything organic these days, it seems like you are paying triple the cost of regular items and this is why a lot of people do not buy organic merchandise.

Kelly Howe is a professional freelance writer/ghostwriter and the author of Kelly's Kolumn, and cooking with Kelly, a very successful e-cookbook. Kelly also creates organic decorations for each season, and offers them at a very low cost. All of the decorations are environmentally friendly because they are all edible. They are safe for small children because they are made from all natural ingredients. In today's world, not too many people can make that claim. The best part is that when Halloween is over, the children can add the decorations to their bags of candy!

If you are interested in ordering your organic decorations, email Kelly at kelly_howe_3@yahoo.com Place your orders early as all orders are shipped in mid September to assure delivery by October 1st.

Power Rangers Jungle Fury Red Ranger Muscle Child Costume

A Superhero is defined as, "a hero, especially in children's comic books and television cartoons, possessing extraordinary, often magical powers; usually portrayed as fighting evil or crime." Every child dreams of being a superhero and this Halloween will be no exception. It's one night that a child can actually become the superhero they dream about. Making their dream a reality is as simple as a costume and a night out trick-or-treating where everyone from family and friends to the neighbors can see them dressed head to toe as their favorite superhero.

Since the debut of the superhero Superman in 1938, stories of superheroes have dominated American comic books and have crossed over into television and the big screen. What draws many children to superheroes is simple - good v/s evil, with good always winning in the end. Of course their superhuman powers and all the cool gadgets they have doesn't hurt either. Another reason is that many superheroes are shroud in secrecy. They have secret identities, secret powers and even secret headquarters. Most wear masks and have some sort of sign on their costume recognizing them; for example, Batman has a bat on his chest, Superman the letter "S" and Spiderman has a webbed spider costume. On Halloween night children love the fact that they have a little bit of secrecy and that no one really knows who is behind the mask.

Many superheroes work alone in fighting crime, however there are also many superheroes that work in teams such as the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Justice League and Avengers. This makes for some great ideas for "group" costumes if your child wants to trick-or-treat with several of his friends.

A superhero themed birthday or Halloween party is also a wonderful idea. The child having the party gets to pick which superhero they want to be then all his/her friends come dressed as other superheroes. With all the great summer movies out this year there are quite a few superheroes to pick from; Batman The Dark Knight, The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man just to name a few.

So this year for Halloween turn your child's dream into a reality and make them truly feel like a superhero for the day!

Look around you and you will likely find a lot of grownups who really love to pull out the Crayons and stay within the lines. One of the greatest delights of childhood is one of the ones that starts very early for most kids - coloring. There is just something magical about placing colorful pencil or crayons to a piece of paper and making magic with color. I don't think any of us ever truly outgrows the sensation of joy and admiration that coloring brings. In fact, I am convinced that one major reason people resolve to have children is to have the opportunity to sit down and color again - without anyone looking at them sideways. And coloring is always fun for Halloween. One of the most popular themes for Halloween Coloring pages is Scooby Doo.

So, if you are in charge of some kids this year - whether they are your own youngsters, the friends of your children, or a schoolroom full of wee ones - you should not let the Halloween season pass by without giving them the opportunity to fill in some beautiful or scary or just plain fun Halloween colouring pages like Scooby Doo or Disney.

You can do the old fashioned thing if you like and lead out to the discount store and buy a few Halloween colouring books, but with technology what it is, you don't truly even have to make that much effort to put the fun of coloring into your schoolroom or living room this Halloween.

All you really need to do is get on the internet and type in a search. Just type in "Halloween coloring pages" and you will come up with 1000's of different sites that are linked to Halloween, and there will be so many Halloween coloring pages to choose from. Just go to a number of dissimilar sites and download or print whatever ones you like the best.

It is a good idea to pair the Halloween coloring pages with the age of the people who will be coloring them in. The older the youngsters, the more complicated the pages can be. If you have mostly toddlers, pre-schoolers, or kindergartners, you will want to stick with basic, simple coloring pages that have large expanses to color and simple things like pumpkins or witches or black cats.

If you desire to, it can be capital fun to hold a Halloween coloring competition. If you own a local business, this is a capital way to add a little flair to the Halloween season in your front office or under your cash register. Just print the Halloween colouring page and make lots of of replicates; then, let your tiniest clients color them and return them. Judge the finest one a week or so ahead of Halloween and give out whatever award you want.

Halloween coloring pages are a neat way for teachers to embellish the classroom or hallways, too. Kids love to find their work displayed for all to see, and the coloring pages can serve as decorations, too. So, give your students some time to make Halloween magic with crayons and provide them some Halloween coloring pages to put their creativity aflame.

Sexy 3Pc Army Cadet Military Halloween Costume

3Pc. Army Cadet Incl Hat, Shrug & Lace Up Side Dress MEDIUM GREEN/RED

The most important question musicians can ask themselves is "Am I doing something every single day to promote my band or telling someone about our show?" Venue owners depend on bands that can draw to keep their doors open. Bands need a place to play. In most situations, it's a good relationship that benefits both parties. You will get booked on better drawing shows or shows with out-of-state bands on it, if you can demonstrate that you have a fanbase.

This list of questions and answers is structured to be a "primer" for you to begin attracting new faces to your shows. It's not a surefire way and is based on my experience working with bands over the last 10 years. Handing out flyers, talking to people on the street and supporting other musicians in your scene are other great ways to meet new people and turn them on to your band.

5 - Is all of your information accurate on your myspace, facebook, purevolume or other networking pages?
(Whether you like those places or not is irrelevant. They are proven avenues for you to promote your band. You don't have to have a page setup with them, but it won't hurt you to do so.)

(if your answer is "No", you might consider creating one in a small quantity. You can take your design and post it online at numerous places to get the word out about your next show. It takes little time and requires you sitting in front of your computer for an hour or so)

1 - Do you create flyers & handbills for every show you play in your hometown?

When a musician here's the word "marketing" or "promotion", there's usually a frown or sign of dread on their faces. There are simple things you can do to promote your band that require little or no effort. Obviously, if you are willing to pound the pavement and go to other bands live shows, areas with lots of foot-traffic and local shopping areas/entertainment districts, you'll run into other people you know or some people you've seen at local shows. But, for a moment, let's say that you are a musician that has a busy day job and does not have the time to do lots of groundwork now.

Building A Fanbase For Your Band

(In some situations, the concert calendar will use live pictures of bands that are performing that week. If they do not have a picture of your band, you will probably be relegated to the one or two line blurb about your show. This is better than nothing. Lots of people read those concert listings over coffee and a bagel, so it's worth the time to make sure you are listed.)

(Set up an account and contribute to the discussions on the boards. Plug your next show in the "signature" of your screen name. Don't be obnoxious and post shamelessly all over the boards. You score points with your peers by bringing something of value (ie. practical knowledge) to whatever discussion they are talking about. Whether it's a favorite band thread or album of the year, or local topics. Post where appropriate and always be sure to update your signature with the most current gig)

Are you a new band just starting out and trying to get people to come out to your shows? Has your band been out for a few years and you are still having trouble getting people to care about your music? These are common situations that happen in every music scene in the country. Bands and musicians that get written about in the newspaper or talked about on the local radio show are those that are putting in the time to promote themselves.

3 - Are there message boards in your hometown you can visit? Is there a way to chat with people online about your show?

The secret to getting press for your band or attention from radio, magazines, newspapers is building your fanbase.

2 - Do you send out an email or press release to your local entertainment writers at the various newspapers or entertainment magazines in your hometown?

6 - Do you have an e-mail list of people you can send your next show info to?

Here's a basic list of questions you can ask yourself. The internet is a powerful tool and sending out e-mails is a simple way to get the ball rolling for your band.

(the next time you go out to your local entertainment district, pick up 1 copy of every newspaper and magazine that services your local area. Somewhere on the first 2 pages of the newspaper is a "masthead". That tells you every staff writer that works for that paper. Write down the mailing address of that publication and the Entertainment Writer or Editor. They usually have e-mail addresses or website listings there, as well. Visit their website and look in the staff section for contact information. Add them to your "industry" e-mail folder.)

July 4, 1800's happenings in U. S. are written in the history of America in golden letters. It was on this day the Indiana territory was originally carved out from the western regions of the territory in Northwest. Indiana at that time consisted of present day states like Minnesota, northeastern, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Most of the parts of Michigan and eastern peninsula except the eastern strip.

July 4 happenings in US are aimed at cultivating the patriotism among the people. There are events in which great orators of America give short speeches on the day of great honor. Child's Toddler Fur Monkey Halloween Costume (2-4)

With the performance of the late Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight, the Joker terrorized, deceived, destroyed and captivated his way into the pantheon of the most memorable movie villains of all-time. His popularity is assured to make an impact during Halloween. With his evil clown makeup, facial scars of unknown origin and unique sartorial style, the character readily lends itself to becoming one of the most wanted Halloween costumes ever.

In creating the perfect Dark Knight Joker costume for yourself, you need to decide upfront how much detail you want in your costume. Most all pre-packaged costumes will include a mask, a purple jacket and a shirt/vest/tie combination. Some packages will have pants as well. Vinyl masks come with molded hair. Latex masks include synthetic hair and look more realistic.

The basic costume packages have a printed shirt that creates the illusion of wearing a shirt, vest and tie. (You may have seen a similar effect with "tuxedo" shirts.) An improved version includes what looks like a real shirt, vest and tie. However, they are attached together into one chest piece and are not whole articles of clothing. The Grand Heritage Collection Joker costume includes everything whole and intact - a mask with hair, additional makeup, a purple jacket, a green vest, a hexagon-patterned shirt, purple pin-stripped pants and a tie. For the money, it cannot be beat.

You could try to find individual articles of clothing that resemble the ensemble of Batman's nemesis at various clothing stores and vintage clothing shops. This could take quite a bit of time though and you wouldn't necessarily save much money versus going with the Grand Heritage Collection Joker costume.

Another costume strategy would give you a more unique look and could surprisingly scare your friends and family. Isn't that part of the fun of Halloween? Go ahead and purchase either a latex mask with synthetic hair or a full Joker makeup kit with wig. Then, purchase a regular police uniform costume or nurse costume and wear it with your mask or made-up face with wig.

In different parts of the movie, The Dark Knight, the Joker dresses as a policeman and a nurse to execute his nefarious schemes. Not many people will imagine being one of these "minor" characters from the movie on Halloween. So, you'll probably be the only one. And, you'll get more "I like your costume" comments than if you wore a typical purple-and-green outfit.

For some fun with your police or nurse Joker costume, you'll want to have your hair or wig covered by the police officer's hat or surgeon's cap. Hide your face a bit by turning your back to a person you want to scare. Have an accomplice friend or family member bring the unsuspecting victim to meet you. When they tap you on the shoulder, quickly swing around with a crazed look and laugh sinisterly. You should produce some fright for Halloween. Cheers!

Child's Yoda Halloween Costume (Size: 6-12M)

With all of the excitement of the holiday season and the new traditions that have made their way into modern culture, it can be difficult to remember the origin of these holidays and the importance of the original traditions. All too often, Halloween is associated with costumes and candy but, in its early days, the significance of Halloween held great importance throughout Scotland, Ireland and Britain. Sadly, over time, these traditions have been forgotten.

Halloween actually started out as Samhain, a ceremony celebrated among Celts and their ancestors. It also marked the end of the winter solstice as well as a prosperous harvest. According to the tradition, this was the one night a year when spirits were free to walk the earth. Origin suggests that the Celtic families would hide in their homes in fear of these spirits or coming into contact with them.

Many symbols that are used today, such as the jack-o-lantern, originated from this ceremony. The jack-o-lanterns originated from an Irish folktale, Stingy Jack, a greedy alcoholic who tricked the devil into climbing a tree and then trapped him by carving a simple cross into the trunk. The devil cursed Jack and he was forced to walk the earth for all eternity.

The ceremony of Samhain, was followed by All Hallows Eve, celebrated on November first. The souls would once again be banished and no longer free to roam the earth. Although many of the traditions have been lost over time, the origins of Halloween and the beliefs which were practiced at this time help modern celebrations with their own symbols.

The actual origins of Halloween and the meaning of symbols that characterized this day have been forgotten, even by historians. The true meaning of the celebration has been replaced somewhat by what Hollywood thinks it should mean. However, in modern Celtic Ireland, Samhain is still celebrated as the serious holiday it is and as a time to pray for relatives' safe entry into heaven.

The real origins of Halloween are extremely interesting and can show a reflection on today's society and how Halloween is celebrated in the modern world. Just as all holidays have their stories, traditions and origins; Halloween has sacred meanings and traditions that affect those who celebrate it. It is important not to forget where it has come from and its meaning.
